Event Questions and Help
Enrollment Process
How do I register for an Event? (return to top)
The process for registering for an event is as follows:
- Create an account under My Profile (or simply login if you already have an account).
- Browse to the event and specific date that you would like to attend.
- If the lottery is open for that event, you will see an "Enter the Lottery" button on the right side of the screen. Select that button to enter the lottery. If the lottery is not yet open, the lottery dates will be posted in place of the button. If the lottery is over and closed, you will not be able to enter that specific event. You will need to enter a different lottery for a future event.
- After you have entered the lottery, you can check on your status, request a group, and get more details by logging into
My Registration.
- We will continue to communicate with you through the
My Registration page. It will be your responsibility to check on your status there.
What is My Registration? (return to top)
My Registration is located on the top level of the Men's and Women's Event pages. It should be your first place to go if you have questions concerning your registration status or need other information about your event. This page will be our primary way of communicating with each other regarding your lottery entry, registration, payment, and all specific event details. The
My Registration page is where you will enter your group requests, roommate requests, special needs, and admin codes. Your payment and the requests you have submitted will be displayed here. So if you don't see these items, then we don't have them.
What are the prerequisites for attending an event? (return to top)
For Captivating Women's Retreat and Wild at Heart Boot Camp we simply ask that you have read the corresponding book (Captivating or Wild at Heart), completed high school, and are at least eighteen years of age.
Why a lottery? (return to top)
We have chosen to use a lottery process because of high demand for our events. For both women's and men's retreats, demand exceeds supply. All economic laws are telling us "more" is the answer… charge more money… do more retreats… include more people! But God has entrusted us with a message--a message about the heart in which "more" is often heart-killing. We want you to experience these retreats (and most importantly experience your God in life-changing ways), but not at the cost of sacrificing the message we want you to experience. So, to better serve all of those interested in attending, we are using a lottery selection process.
How and when do I enter the lottery? (return to top)
If you browse to the event date, lottery dates are posted there. During the lottery those dates will become a button that you can click to submit yourself to the lottery.
Can we apply for lottery acceptance as a group? (return to top)
Yes! To do so, each of you must begin by entering the lottery as individuals. Further instructions for creating your group will be on the
My Registration page under Group Registration after you have entered the lottery.
How does the lottery selection work? (return to top)
Invitations are given through a random selection from all of those that have entered the lottery. Additional people will be accepted in a second (and sometimes third) round of invitations based upon how many spaces remain.
Have I been accepted? How do I see my status? (return to top)
Using your e-mail as your account name, log into
My Registration to see what your status is, what information we have for you, and other details.
What does it mean that I am "Not Yet Accepted"? (return to top)
"Not Yet Accepted" status means that you are on the wait list. Up until two weeks prior to the event, invitations are issued from the wait list based upon spaces available. Details can be found on the
My Registration page under your status.
Can I get a visa letter so I can come to the event? (return to top)
If you have need for a letter to the US Embassy in your country for purposes of obtaining a visa, we will supply you with an emailed letter in Adobe format once we receive the following information: your full name, the address to the US Embassy in your country, the dates of the retreat you are planning to attend, and an email address to which to send the letter.
General Information
What does the registration fee cover? (return to top)
Your registration fee covers all lodging, meals, tuition, and materials for the duration of the weekend. It does not include travel arrangements to and from the event. You may want to bring extra cash or a credit card for optional recreational activities (to be announced at the event) and additional materials that will be for sale.
Can I transfer my acceptance or registration to another person? (return to top)
Your lottery entry and/or registration are not transferable to another event, date, or person.
What is your cancellation policy? How do I alert you to a cancellation? (return to top)
Cancellation by Registrant
Full payment is required at the time your reservation is made for this event. You may cancel your registration and receive a refund of your registration fee up to 30 days prior to the date of the event; provided, however, you will be charged a $150 handling fee upon the cancellation of your registration. In the event that you cancel your registration less than 30 days prior to the date of the event, you will forfeit the entire registration fee. Regardless of when you cancel your registration, your registration is not transferable to another event, date, or person.
Cancellation by Ransomed Heart
If the event is made impossible by any act of God, war, earthquake, fire, strike, sickness, accident, epidemic, act of government, its agencies or officers, or any other legitimate cause beyond our control, we will cancel the event and refund your full Ransomed Heart event registration fee to you.
Participation of John Eldredge
While it is our intent that John Eldredge will participate in the event, if for any reason he is unable to participate, the event will most likely continue without him. However, we reserve the right to cancel the event should John Eldredge’s participation be prevented if we decide, in our sole discretion, that cancellation is necessary under the circumstances. If we do decide to cancel the event for any reason, we will refund your full registration fee to you.
Please e-mail us at cancellations@ransomedheart.com for cancellations.
How do I get transportation to the event? (return to top)
You are responsible for your own transportation. A shuttle option will be available under
My Registration on the Event Details page after you have paid for the event.
Can I select my Roommate? (return to top)
Yes! Roommate selection is the same as group selection. If you have associated yourself with a group, we will room your group together (provided you have registered for the same room type). If you did not submit yourself to the lottery as a group, you can still create a group for roommate assignments after each of you have registered by going to the
My Registration page.
Can we attend as Father/Son or Mother/Daughter? (return to top)
Due to the intimate and personal nature of the content of our events, they cannot be viewed as a Father/Son or Mother/Daughter retreat. We strongly encourage fathers and sons, and mothers and daughters to attend, but they will need to participate in different events, at least for each of their first experiences. Due to the nature and depth of the content and experience, our retreats are not designed for youth. You must have completed high school
or be at least eighteen years of age to enter the lottery.
Do the facilities have handicapped access? (return to top)
If you have a physical limitation, you will still be able to fully participate in this retreat. We will have adventure activities available. However, they are ALL optional and your non-participation will not hinder your experience of the retreat. Crooked Creek Ranch is a much more handicapped friendly campus than Frontier Ranch. Before you register, please contact us at eventhelp@ransomedheart.com, so we can make make sure your needs are met.
How can I prepare for the high altitude? (return to top)
High altitude may affect certain health concerns, such as: a heart condition, a pace-maker, breathing problems, pregnancy, etc. We STRONGLY encourage that you contact your physician before traveling to high altitude.
If you can, come rested and well-hydrated, which means drinking 6-8 glasses of water 5-7 days prior to travel. Once you get to altitude it is too late to get hydrated. You will want to continue drinking 6-8 glasses of water during your stay. Please note caffeine and carbonated drinks dehydrate you. Also, do not exert yourself strenuously for the first 24-48 hours. So, don’t plan to go running or exercising when you first get there.
For those of you who have a prior history of problems with altitude sickness, you may want to check with your doctor beforehand. There is a prescription medication available that can help some people, but it must be taken 1-2 days before you travel in order to help.
Click Here for more information on High Altitude Awareness.
What will the weather be like in the Colorado mountains? (return to top)
You will be in the Colorado Rockies. For those of you unacquainted with mountain weather, know that it is wonderful, beautiful, but can be extremely variable throughout the year.
You will do fine if you prepare yourself. Bring layers (short sleeve shirts, vests, sweatshirts, jackets) so that you can be prepared for the varied temperatures. More details on how to prepare will be available for specific event dates after you register.
Roads to our event locations are maintained throughout the winter. This means that they are plowed, but will still have snow/ice on them in the wintertime (November-April). During these winter months, we strongly recommend a 4WD vehicle or taking the shuttle to our events if you are uncomfortable driving in the mountains or in snow.

Technical Questions
Problems with logging in / Forgot my password (return to top)
Your e-mail is your account in our system. If you forgot your password, there is a link to have it e-mailed to you. If you cannot access your old e-mail to retrieve the password, contact us at support@ransomedheart.com with your request for help.
How do I update my contact information? (return to top)
You can change your contact information by logging into My Profile.
Someone is missing from our group acceptance. (return to top)
Sometimes, the leaders forget to add themselves to the group that they created, or a person that is supposed to be in the group does not add themselves. We cannot ensure that we will be able to add these people back into the group after invitations have been given. (It depends on the response rate of the invitations already out.) Let us know what happened at eventhelp@ransomedheart.com, and we will do the best we can.
Do you have my special needs/admin code? (return to top)
You should be able to see your special needs and admin code even after they are locked against further changes. If you cannot see them, then we do not have them. You can submit an admin code up until the close of the lottery on the
My Registration page. You can submit special needs once you pay and up until two weeks prior to the event, also on the
My Registration page.
What is my status? (return to top)
Using your e-mail as your account name, log into
My Registration to see what your status is, what information we have for you, and other details.
How do I pay for my friend? (return to top)
To pay for another person, you need to log into
My Registration as that person. (This means that you will need their e-mail and password.) Follow the links to pay, and put in your credit card information under their account. We do not store credit cards for future use.
Do NOT try to buy multiple tickets under one account (for example: I will just buy 6 tickets under my name for my group). The tickets need to be purchased one at a time under each attendee's account.
Why is my payment not showing up? (return to top)
Something is wrong. If you cannot see that you paid, then we are not seeing it either. Contact us at eventhelp@ransomedheart.com, so we can help get it sorted out.
